Late Wednesday night in Ventura County, California, the 44-year-old superstar was arrested for DUI after a dramatic hour-long chase on Highway 101.
It all started around 8:13 p.m. when officers spotted her weaving in and out of lanes in her 2026 black BMW convertible. The California Highway Patrol pursued her until she finally pulled over at about 9:13 p.m., and she was taken into custody by 9:30 p.m.
According to the 911 call details, once stopped, officers called in a drug recognition expert to evaluate if she was impaired. And get this – sources say an unknown substance was found inside the car, which will be noted in the arrest report.
Britney was said to be crying as she was booked into jail and she was released at 6:00 this morning.
Britney’s rep released a statement calling the incident ‘inexcusable,’ and said she’s committed to taking the right steps, complying with the law, and spending time with her sons and loved ones. They added that hopefully, she gets the help and support she needs during this tough time.
But folks, this isn’t Britney’s first brush with the law on the road. Just last month, she was caught holding her cell phone to her face while driving a Mercedes SUV in LA on February 12th – that’s illegal in California, as we all know.
And in recent months, she was filmed swerving into the wrong lane on a highway after a night out. Sources at the time worried she was spiraling, especially amid the release of her ex-husband’s memoir.

Her history goes back further: a hit-and-run misdemeanor in 2007 after clipping a parked car, and driving without a valid California license in 2008. It’s a pattern that’s raising eyebrows and concerns about her behavior behind the wheel.
