Kate Middleton has spoken candidly about “invisible” mental-health challenges she faced during pregnancy, sharing her thoughts in an emotional letter sent to a maternal mental-health charity.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who signed the letter simply as “Catherine” and placed her royal monogram at the top, reflected on the need to support people navigating perinatal mental-health issues with “love, hope, and compassion.” The message was later liked by the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Catherine wrote that the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) continues to amplify voices of those dealing with perinatal mental-illness. She highlighted the group’s new photo exhibition, “This Is Also Motherhood,” which captures often unseen realities of mental health during pregnancy and early parenthood.
“The exhibition stands as a testament to MMHA’s core mission — ensuring every family across the UK receives mental-health care and support before, during, and after pregnancy,” she wrote.
Catherine, 43, has served as patron of the MMHA since 2022. This week, the charity’s exhibition is on display at Phillips Gallery in London. Curated by artist Carolyn Mendelsohn, the showcase features work by 10 women whose stories unfold through portrait photography, still-life images, and audio recordings.
MMHA shared the princess’s letter on social media, calling it a “great honor” to receive such a message. The group also expressed hope that her words will help normalize open conversations about mental health during early parenthood.
